What Our Customers Are Saying

Don’t just take it from us, let our customers do the talking!

“The name of this product should be changed from contractors solvent to miracle in a bottle!! The floor tile in my basement was glued to the floor with tar in the 1950’s. Removing the time was easy, but ye hard dried tar remained. I tried everything from harsh solvents to grinding the tar and concrete with a 4″ angle grinder with a diamond cup. Everything I tried either failed or was back breaking work. Then I tried this product and the ancient dried tar dissolved rapidly and was extremely easy!!! I went right out and bought more to finish the job. Would recommend to anyone and everyone. I’ll be taking this product to work for them to try on some industrial cleaning projects!”

Andrew - Should change name to miracle in a bottle!!

“Seldom do I recommend a product but this deserves the highest praise because it works when the other stuff falls short. I had to order online because the local national chains didn’t carry the Contractor’s De-Solv. Suppose they only carry what moves quickly, and truly this stuff isn’t cheap, but it’s worth every penny. If the Contractor’s De-Solv is new to you then spend a little extra and get some. You will not be sorry.”

Robert - You will not be sorry.

“I LOVE “De-Solv-it Contractors’ Solvent”!!! I used the solvent on a fiberglass shower stall to remove caulk. I happily discovered that the solvent cleaned the fiberglass surfaces. I tried to clean the soap/calcium deposits on the floor of the shower, etc., for years, without success. The shower stall now is gleaming clean. I am a believer that this product is a must have among my cleaning products for my home. It is also really important (and a priority) to me that “De-Solv-it” is a Eco-friendly Biodegradable Product. Thank you!!!”

Pat - Thank you!!!

*This Heavy Duty Citrus Solvent is Not recommended for use on: butyl, suede, leather, any silks, rubber, & elastic items. Remove clothing before treating. This product may not be compatible with all carpeting. ON CARPETING, USE AT OWN RISK. For best results on carpet, extract with wet/dry vac, Bissell, etc. Do not use on rubber backed rugs.

To remove floor adhesive: 1. Apply (pour or spray) one coat coverage: 200 – 250 Sq. Ft. per gallon (approximately). 2. Remove liquefied adhesive with wet/dry vac, silica sand, cat litter or shovel/scraper. 3. Dispose of according to regulations. 4. Wash concrete thoroughly with degreaser floor wash and rinse before reapplying adhesive. IMPORTANT: Some darker floor adhesives such as cutback mastics will start to liquefy immediately. Some of the lighter, yellow/white latex adhesives may take 20 minutes to 2 hrs to show signs of softening. you may want to test a small area by keeping it consistently moist to better gauge the bond-breaking point of the older adhesive before applying this product to a larger area. Once this softening time-frame is determined, you can decide how large of an area at one time you would like to manage with more product.

Tough Stain Challenges (For Oil, Tars, Greases, Fresh Applications, Spills, etc.): 1. Apply. 2. Wipe. 3. Rinse for best results with this amazing citrus cleaning solvent.

Tougher Challenges (For Tougher Challenges that have started to set-up, yet are still pliable, or somewhat moist): 1. Apply, let set up to 5 min. 2. Peel, scrape, or wipe. 3. Rinse with water or mild soap and water if reapplying adhesive.

Toughest Challenges (For almost impossible challenges such as Liquid Putties, Latex Adhesives, Thicker Applications, Set lacquer, etc.): 1. Apply & let set up to 30 minutes to 2 hrs. 2. Keep moist with product. 3. Peel, scrape or wipe. Rinse.

100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEE

We believe you deserve citrus cleaning products that remove what they say they will. Therefore, we offer a 100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEE: If not completely satisfied, simply return the unused portion of this environmentally friendly cleaner with proof of purchase, and ORANGE-SOL will refund the full purchase price.

What are the primary differences between CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT, CITRUS SOLUTION and LAUNDRY SAVER?

CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT removes an even longer list including cured silicone, roofing tar, asphalt and caulks. While robust, CITRUS SOLUTION is better suited for everyday icky, sticky, gooey, oily, waxy, household-related challenges around the home, on skin, clothing, carpet and upholstery. It has more rinsability (which helps when used on laundry) and doesn’t usually require a soap and water rinse like similar products. It also removes A LOT MORE challenges such as pasta sauces, fresh paints and stains and even bug residue. It is not as robust as CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT. LAUNDRY SAVER will remove some of what CITRUS SOLUTION removes but targets more specific protein, grease, oil, mustard and even baby-related stains outside of CITRUS SOLUTION’s wheelhouse. CITRUS SOLUTION and LAUNDRY SAVER are wonderful complements to each other as they collectively remove over 90% of the tougher household and laundry stains one may encounter.

Can I use CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT on my automobile or motorcycle to remove asphalt, soot, sap, tar, stickers and other challenges?

CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT is safe to use on your automobile, using instructions for hard surfaces. CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT will not harm dry paint or clear-coat finishes. This product is an excellent wax remover so after removing asphalt, grease and tar, you may want to rewax your vehicle. To clean interior stains, use the instructions for carpeting and upholstery. CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT may also be used on vinyl and non-tinted glass since tint is usually applied with adhesive. Be sure to wash CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT off rubber surfaces after use.

Can CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT be used on clothing?

It can. Many of our customers love it in the laundry room though CITRUS SOLUTION is typically a better prewash. For heavier oil, grease and tar, ppply and let work for 2-3 minutes. After treating, the tar will be able to be scraped off easily from surface and then wash clothes as normal to remove any leftover residue. Check each item before putting them back into the dryer, repeat cleaning of any areas as necessary.

Is there a difference between CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT and MECHANICS’ SOLVENT?

Both are PRO STRENGTH, however MECHANICS’ SOLVENT has a high dielectric strength greater than 50,000V which means it can be used safely on running electrical motors to clean soot, grease, oil, lube and other tough challenges. Both are outstanding in parts washers to clean tools, equipment, parts and much more. Even skin.

Can CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT be used on leather?

CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT is not generally recommended on materials such as leather, silk, or suede as it will likely darken these materials. In some cases where the material can be rinsed with mild soap and water you may see less darkening. Certainly many customers have opted for slightly darker leather versus discarding the item.

Can CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT be used on carpet?

As long as CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT does not reach the carpet backing (which typically is made of adhesive which CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT is an EXCELLENT remover of) and stays on the carpet pile itself, you may, but only with heavy caution and according to product instructions. Simply spray CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT on a clean, white rag and work the problem substance out of the carpet. When you’re done, gently wash the carpet area with mild soap and water and rinse well with clean water. Repeat if necessary. For best results, extract with a wet-dry vac or carpet cleaning machine to extract all of the soap.

I was painting and made a mess, what can I do?

CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT will remove spills and fresh paint splatter and stain from hard surfaces, clothing, carpet and upholstery. Also, CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT will not harm hair and therefore is also an excellent paint brush cleaner when you are done with the job! First, remove as much of the paint with rags or paper towels. Then apply CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT according to the surface spilled or over-sprayed on. (Never apply this product directly to carpeting due to its composition of adhesive backing. As long as CS stays ontop of the pile you’re okay, so we recommend applying to paper towels and “wicking/absorbing” the paint up from carpeting.) As long as the paint or stain isn’t set, CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT is a terrific remover of oil-based, spray and other fresh paints and stains.

How long does it take for CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT to work?

CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT begins to work instantly on most challenges it removes. The rule of thumb is the darker and more opaque the challenge, such as asphalt, tar, oil, grease, wet oil-based paint, etc, the faster it’s removed. Conversely, some lighter colored, aged floor adhesives can take up to thirty minutes to soften before easily scraped. Conversely, some clear or white silicones can take around ten minutes to lift from the surface depending on external factors. We recommend with any challenge take a small area, apply CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT, keep it moist until the bond is broken and you’ve achieved desired results. Then you’ll know how much and how quickly CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT will perform on larger areas. Remember, if CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT says it will remove it, it’s 100% guaranteed it will.

Can I use CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT on glass?

CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT™ is non-corrosive and will not harm glass or most other hard surfaces including fiberglass and porcelain. CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT is used quite often on windows, glass and wood frames, mirrors, shower doors and other glass surfaces. After removing the soap scum, adhesive or other challenge with CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT™, wipe with a wet cloth or paper towel. Then finish up with your favorite glass cleaner for best results.

After CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT removes the floor adhesive, caulk or silicone, do I need to prep the surface before applying more adhesive?

After CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT has removed the adhesive, if you’re applying more adhesive or tile, etc., we recommend an extra mild soap and rinse and dry time before reapplying adhesive. Some bathroom remodelers prefer to add a step by applying fresh alcohol on some shower/tub surfaces but it is at your discretion and preference. CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT is actually water rinsable but the added wash is an extra precaution. Note: please be sure you’re using CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT to remove caulk or adhesive not grout. CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT will not remove grout.

CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT removes fresh paint but won’t harm dry paint?

CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT will remove fresh oil-based paint and stain, model paint, spray paint and other wet paints FROM DRY PAINT. This can be very beneficial removing adhesive, paint and other tough challenges on autos, interior and exterior surfaces and furniture without harming the surface.

Can I dilute CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT?

CONTRACTORS’ SOLVENT contains no water, only 100% active ingredients and therefore is non-dilutable. A little goes a LONG ways however, so there is still great economy as is. We do offer an All Purpose Cleaner Degreaser that is great for everyday cleaning and can be diluted per instructions.

Recommend every week

You have one of the best products I have every used in my life time. It does what it says it will do and more. I use it and it works on so many application I won’t even get started to describe them all. I recommend De-solv-it to someone nearly every week. I discovered it when trying to remove years of old dried up caulk that had been over applied on a used RV I purchased and then came to discover it removed years of build up dirt and oxidation on the gelcoat finish and made it look like new again. I use it for this purpose every year now.

Great product

Amazing product! I spent almost six hours the other day prying up vinyl flooring tiles in my kitchen using other solvents that claimed to dissolve the adhesive, while my husband used the same product to try to scrub up the residual adhesive. We got less than half done and it was messy, exhausting, smelly work that severely dried out my hands, nose, throat, and eyes and left the plywood a sticky, disgusting mess. Today I bought two spray bottles of the Contractor’s Solvent and got more tile and the residual adhesive removed in less than two hours with one bottle than I did in six hours with the other product, with far less mess and effort and without the burning nose, throat and eyes. I found that if I sprayed around the perimeter of each tile, then waited a minute or so, I could pry the tiles up intact with significantly less effort or frustration. After popping off a small section of tiles, I would spray the area, wait 3-5 minutes, and I could just scrape up the remaining adhesive with no scrubbing or additional water. Great product!

Worth every penny

I ordered a gallon. It seems when I run across something that is absolutely perfect for a particular job then I can no longer get it and that was NOT going to occur in this case. Seldom do I recommend a product but this deserves the highest praise because it works when the other stuff falls short. I had to order online because the local national chains didn’t carry the Contractor’s De-Solv. Suppose they only carry what moves quickly, and truly this stuff isn’t cheap, but it’s worth every penny. If the Contractor’s De-Solv is new to you then spend a little extra and get some. You will not be sorry. P.S. Gotta try this on the range hood. Last stuff took the paint off.

Tape on stairs

Your product saved replacing stairs that has double sided tape on all twelve treads. Never thought anything could work with just one application. Now need to get six more bottle so we can clean the beautiful hard wood floors that have tile glue on them. We tried a small corner and did not expect the beauty to shine as it did on 100 year old floors.

Worked great!

I just used this product on my range hood. It worked great! Other products needed to be used two or more times to remove the tacky grease that comes from my gas stove top. I also used it on crayon and it took it right off. I’ll use this product again, it saved me a lot of work.
