Gardening | Remove Tree Sap or Resin from Skin

What is Resin? Have you been working outside trimming trees and ended up with a sticky residue on your hands? That is resin, a hydrocarbon secretion of coniferous trees such as cedars, Douglas-furs, pines and spruces. Most people may think of sap and resin as one, but they are actually different in that saps serve a nutrition function to the tree; resins are used in varnishes and adhesives. All in all, resins, such as Pine resin, and sap lead to a sticky mess.

Remove Sticky Tree Sap

So how do you get this mess off your skin? Instead of drying your hand skin out by washing and scrubbing with warm soap and water multiple times, use the orange cleaner De-Solv-it Citrus Solution, as a safe and easy way to remove sticky resin messes from skin, hair and virtually any other surface including cars, trucks and motorcycles. The citrus cleaning solvent gets part of its cleaning power from citrus oils and organic wetting agents (natural ingredients), and contains aloe vera and lanolin so it will help prevent your skin from drying out. And De-Solv-it won’t harm clear-coat finishes or dry paint.

Safe on Skin

To remove resin from skin, spray the orange cleaner into the palm of your hand and lather into your skin, like you would if you were washing with soap and water. Once the resin residue is removed from your skin, wash your hands (or whatever part of the body the citrus solvent was applied to) with mild soap and water.

To remove resin from hair, spray the specialty cleaner into the palm of your hands, and lather into your hair like you would if you were washing. For large amounts of resin removal from hair, it may be easier to have someone spray De-Solv-it Citrus Solution directly on to the affected spot, rather than spraying it into your hands. Follow up by washing your hair with shampoo.

If you don’t wash your hands or hair after using the orange cleaner, you will notice the citrus oils left behind. De-Solv-it Citrus Solution is safe to use on skin and hair, as well as virtually any other surface; it’s eco-friendly and mom-approved. Before applying to another surface type, read the product label and test in an inconspicuous area.

There are certain stains that parents see and fear when washing their kids’ clothes. One such example… grass stains. Grass stains are the nemesis of clothing; not only for children, but for all ages alike. It can result from playing tag in the field with classmates, doing yard work, or any number of sports games.

To remove grass stains, you must use a product that is safe on fabric so not to ruin the article of clothing further, but also a product that is safe on skin, so not to irritate; as well as an environmentally-friendly solution that is safe to wash down the drain. A stain remover that should be in every household with an active child, or someone that regularly comes home covered from head-to-toe in dirt, is the citrus-based solvent, De-Solv-it PLUS.

To use De-Solv-it PLUS on clothing, gently remove any excess grass or dirt form the fabric, spray the affected area of clothing (both the inside and outside of the article) and let it saturate the area for 1-2 minutes. Once the specialty cleaner has soaked in, blot the area with a paper towel, spray the citrus-based remover again, and then wash according to the manufacturer’s direction.

The specialty cleaner is safe to use on nearly every surface. The all-natural product is orange powered and is safe on skin, allowing you to complete laundry and stain removal without gloves.

Bonus… the citrus-based specialty cleaner can also be used to remove grass stains left by wet grass on concrete, stone, the steel frame of a lawn mower, as well as other yard tools made from wood, plastic, aluminum, stainless steel, and other metals. The environmentally-friendly characteristics of De-Solv-it PLUS are even more important when it comes to using these products outside, where water run-off leads to storm drains.

Watching your dog run around the house like it’s nobody’s business, or watching your cat have the time of its life playing with water from the faucet, will surely put a smile on everyone’s face and brighten our day. That is… until you walk around the corner and see that they did not make it outside or to the litter box. When they have to go, they have to go.

Pet stains are a problem for any pet owner. Yet, you don’t want to go through the trouble of renting a large household or industrial carpet cleaner. Using such machines can be costly, as well as strenuous and time consuming work. However, it is also hard to find a product that you find suitable for cleaning where your pets and children play. Every pet owner should have De-Solv-it Pet Stain & Odor Remover, a powerful pet stain remover, mixed in with their everyday household cleaning supplies.

The specialty cleaner is made from all-natural products with the key cleaning ingredient being derived from plants, and it is also environmentally friendly. For carpet stains, test on an inconspicuous area before treating larger areas. Apply the remover to a clean cloth and blot the affected area until the pet stain is removed. Once complete, rinse the area with water, and then blot dry with a clean dry towel or cloth. The longer a stain sits, the more difficult it is to get out; for these stains, two treatments may be necessary. You can then vacuum to ensure all residues from the pet stain are removed.

Rinse in the laundry sink with the warmest water the garment manufacturer will allow before laundering again according to the manufacturer’s direction. Be sure to remove all of the stain before drying again. (TIP: When crayon or gum goes through the dryer, be sure to remove the melted crayon or gum from the dryer and wipe the inside dryer surface with mild soap and water – a sponge works well here – and let dry before using again.)

If on a hard surface inside, soak a clean towel with water, and wipe the area where the orange powered remover was applied.
